Hello again! One of the projects I was working on during the summer included redesigning my webstore. I really felt like the previous store had a "blah" look to it. I was using a pre-made template for the site before and I really wasn't happy with it.

I wanted it to have some sort of creative theme, something related to my artist name. And none of the other templates to choose from felt personal enough.

So I redid the webstore almost completely from scratch. I worked on designing all the pictures and navigation tools and links and text... it was really tough! But it finally came together! I worked a little over a month on it using HTML and CSS.

Right now, I need people to check it out! All the links work, it's just the layout.. if anything looks funny or shifted, please let me know! I've tested it, but I do not have a wide variety of computers or internet browsers, so feedback would be awesome!

Oh btw, my name is Marian. Since I mentioned it on my site, I should tell you here... It's a very.. English name I think ..lol But my nickname can still be Spice-chan

Hey, I know I've been gone far too long, but I came here to update that today's my birthday and I'm a year older!
Finally 19!

How has everyone been??

wow it feels like forever since I updated this journal! My family and I went out to celebrate. I demanded that we see "Ponyo on the cliff by the sea" no matter what today!! I have to say, it was one of the sweetest, cutest, purest animations I have ever seen. It had the feel of a child's storybook, with its color pencil backgrounds, which I really adored about it. I'm an animation major and I absolutely love Miyazaki's work. Lol and so do my American animation teachers. His work is really inspiring and meaningful and beautiful~
We ate out and had cake and to top off the day, I got "Howl's Moving Castle" as a gift! Which I rly RLY wanted!

Getting the time to be away from DA is nice but I miss it. Maybe I will return back here soon. (I've been taking a break from DA but I'm not sure when I will return - if it'll be sooner or later)

Yep Finally a break from the busy schedule. Since my dorm is a "stand-alone" building, there's nothing to block the beams of sunlight from coming in late afternoon, and MAN IS IT HOT IN HERE The air conditioning (that's supposedly efficient) is slacking on the job. *whips the thermostat* Today it's 70, so that means, in the dorm from 4 to 7, it's 90 degrees.


But the good thing is, I'm excited about things again. I was a bit down, but I think it was because of the stress and lack of free time. I like to spend hours drawing and watching shows etc. but with limited time to do them, things become.. blah. I decided to make sometime for play, I mean, playtime shouldn't just be for little kids. Any break out of the routine is well worth it.


I'm really getting into my animation now I haven't done much this class, but I've created a morph from a car to a dalmatian dog, and a cutout animation. Right now, I'm animating a girl in a long sleeve (too long) raincoat walking her energetic little dog that has a knack for wrapping her legs up with the leash. Maybe, I will share it when I finish it.. that is if it's not too bad


In another class, I have an assignment to create an art book, so I'll be making an art book out of all my finished works here~!
I just have to make a cover~


Lately, I've been getting opportunities to show and sell some of my work around campus at art/craft fairs, the school art shop, and events. Even my dorm is having a talent contest for a variety of artists, including cartoonist. I'm glad our school accepts anime as art too. I went on a tour of Disney's Cal Arts school, and they said, 'if you draw anime, keep that to yourself'. *always tells this story* Well, hey, I didn't feel too bad; they said they didn't accept Disney-style work either.. It was funny cuz, when I toured the animation classroom they had open, I saw a huge poser hung over the side of a work station with Eyeshield 21 (a shonen jump manga)

Lol, I've been in the habit of laughing about anything bad that happens to me that i can't help. Yesterday was my bad luck day Everything bad that could happen, did happen. Lol, and when the bad luck started fading, I laughed about it. ...and then I watched this movie, Paprika, and I 'lol'ed some more XD (that anime was crazy, but I liked it for it ;D )

I'm started the semester countdown! Only 4 more weeks of school!
I can't wait for summer..
I put in an application for an internship at the school where I live. It's for a paid graphic design job. I really hope I get it! I would like to work for pay. =

Also, I hope to open up for commissions here on DA at the end of the month. :shake:

So That's what's going on in my life so far I'll write another journal soon~ Hope you all are doing well!!

Omg, I finally finished this 8 paged paper, non double spaced in half a day. =u= I had no drafts, no sources prior to this, NOTHING! I thought I'd never finish! I'm so tired!!! But glad it's done. It's due tomorrow... I mean today (as you can see, it's 1:30)=u= College!!! _{It's so grueling} x) I have to literally roll and let myself drop out of bed so I get up in time to get ready for class. History of animation class at 8:30 today, -yay- ... -shot-

The homework never ends!! And there's no time for slacking cuz if I slack a day, I'm up late to the early morning hours finishing animations and papers and STUFF! I'm wiggin' out here, man!

So, that's why I've been like.. dead on here. I'ma walking zombie with very little free time. XD
I miss you guys ;3; But midterms is coming up, so I ...I can't visit your pages too often. And if I am now,... it's cuz I'm super slacking x)

Anyway, wish me luck! Now Just... need.. to .. get.. to.. the bed.. sleep.. zzz..

I could elaborately describe my love for animation here but that short statement (when yelled from the dorm rooftops) wholly and simply expresses it all in one fell swoop My first day of animation class is tomorrow!!!! ..and chances are I won't be able to sleep tonight

I encountered these animations first. Being the action/fighting lover that I am, I can't help to watch 's Lani Boss fights, the great black and white epicness of the animation reminds me of "pro" material.

What some people don't know is that animation takes a lot of work, many hours of commitment and every animator would want the viewers to at least appreciate the end result of all their time and effort. I know I would And if I could list more I would, these are the animations I've viewed so far and I've seen many more than this. I would love to feature more animation again sometime soon.
